Ailsa and the Seahorses

Ailsa and the Seahorses

Ailsa and the Seahorses is the musical project of young Scottish singer-songwriter, Ailsa McEwan

With her own distinct brand of ethereal indie, Ailsa is known for her independent approach and songs characterised by dreamy guitar chords and hypnotic melodies. She has recently launched a campaign to help fund her debut album - support her here.

In her own words:

"I am a Scottish singer/songwriter who went on an adventure and ended up in Berlin. I started out playing in local bars and on the streets of my hometown, Edinburgh - back when I was the shy girl who claimed she could only sing one octave. Since then, I travelled to different countries, set out to pursue my musical dreams and grew as an artist. Through it all, music has been my form of expression and my way of connecting with others.

The last couple of years I went on a big introspective journey, through heartbreak and personal discovery; it was a beautiful adventure full of hope and the magic of the universe, and from this I wrote an album of songs.

These songs have been so important to me - for me, they carry hope, beauty and most importantly, healing. I like to think that they could for others too, and as this chapter of my life draws to a close, it is time to share these songs with the world.

In Berlin, I found my bandmates and with them the songs became so much more. As someone who started out making DIY recordings by myself in my wardrobe, it is incredible to hear my songs reach their full potential with a full band sound. We are all set to head into the studio, we just need a little help getting there!"
