Album Review - Steve Jinski: ´Muscle Memory´
´Muscle Memory´ is the latest double album release from acclaimed singer-songwriter Steve Jinksi
Originally conceived as a revisit of Jinksi’s debut album, ‘Eventually’ (previously only available on vinyl), the album evolved into a treasure trove of Jinksi classics, along with some previously unreleased gems. Utilising the cutting edge technology of machine learning, the original stereo mixes have been deconstructed into their respective stems, polished and given a new lease of life appropriate for the digital age.
Jinksi is no newcomer to the spotlight, having graced the stage with the likes of Richard Thompson and Eliza Carthy, and his heartfelt and tender songwriting style seamlessly adapts to festival stages as well as to more intimate venues. Steve Jinksi’s sensitivity to arrangement shines through on ‘Muscle Memory’: Songs such as ‘Whatever Happened To The Weekend’ exploit an infectious country shuffle with playful guitar riffs dancing around the vocal melodies. In contrast, ‘Heaven Could Be Here’ immerses the listener in a sparser, reverb-soaked soundscape. reminiscent of some of John Martyn’s more ethereal work.
´Muscle Memory´ celebrates the songwriting of Steve Jinksi, breathing new life into his back catalogue while bringing previously unheard material to the spotlight. To support the album’s release, Jinksi will be playing a series of solo concerts, bringing his expertly crafted songs to eager audiences.
