Art Battle Bristol

Art Battle Bristol

A thrilling night full of fun, food, music and live art!

12 Artists  3 Rounds  1 Winner  -  next date 6th February at The Fleece

Art battle is a live painting tournament where audience vote alone decides the winner. Artists are given 20 minutes to create their masterpiece inspired by whatever they want! All work created is offered via silent auction so audience members can take home a piece of the night to remember and connect to their local creative community. Winners move on to the regional, then national, then international finals where artists from over 30 countries compete!

News from Art Battle Bristol: After a thrilling 3rd round that saw the closest vote in Art Battle Bristol history, Sophie Long went home with the coveted Golden Brush Trophy from the 21st November Battle. With this victory, Sophie becomes the headline artist at the next Art Battle Bristol taking place at The Fleece on 6th of February. She also earned her spot on the Regional Final on 26th March at the Anson Rooms of the Student Union building with  a chance to go on to the National final in August and International final in Tokyo in November 2020.

Two stunning portraits took Sophie over the line against fierce competition and in front of an engaged audience of 300 people. The chimp portrait was the piece she completed in the 20 minutes of round 3 and echoes her environmental focus on our draining relationship with animals and bees in particular. Known for her large murals at such public art events as Upfest and stunning animal portraits, Art Battle is thrilled  to see her come back and compete and participate as part of our community.

We spoke to Sophie after she had won Art Battle to see how she was feeling:

“I didn’t come to Art Battle thinking I had a chance of winning, I was just here to take part in something I know to be really fun with a whole bunch of talented artists, at no point in the run up to painting did I believe I would get  to take home the Golden Paint Brush Trophy. In round 1 I felt so cool and collected, but in round 3 I was a  trembling mess, my hands were shaking, my heart was racing, it was hilarious what the pressure of my competitive side could do to me. I had so much fun and met so many wonderful people. Taking part was such a confidence boost, I am really looking forward to coming back to Art Battle as a guest on the 6th February in a less stressful environment and get to paint with no time constraints, and more so I am looking forward to taking part again in  March for the Regional Finals, I think I’ll need to do a spot of meditation beforehand to calm my nerves, nonetheless I am super excited.”
