Black Dog Radio presents

Black Dog Radio presents

There are three fantastic Black Dog Radio events coming up this month in Belper!

Black Dog Radio present the finest folk, roots and acoustic music in Belper, a historic mill town in Derbyshire.

On Saturday 7th as part of their "Folk at the Meadows" series they welcome The Outside Track (tickets going fast)

Winner of ´Best Group´ in both the Live Ireland awards and the Tradition In Review awards, The Outside Track are one of the top Celtic acts in the world. They were ´Best Live Act´ nominees in the MG Alba Scots Traditional Music Awards, and won the German Radio Critics Prize, for their album Flash Company. Live Ireland called them, ´Among the top bands in the world - stunning on every cut!´

The Outside Track’s marriage of Celtic music, song and dance has been rapturously received around the world. Hailing from Scotland, Ireland, and Cape Breton, its five members are united by a love of traditional music and a commitment to creating new music on this as a foundation. They blend fiddle, accordion, harp, guitar, flute, whistle, step-dance and vocals with breathtaking vitality. Their blend of boundless energy and unmistakable joie de vivre has won them a large following around the globe.

On Monday 16th they present Flook live at The Lion Hotel Belper (this event already sold out!)

On Saturday 21st they are delighted to be able to bring Ross Ainslie and Tim Edey back to Belper as part of the ´Folk at the Meadows´ Spring Season at the Belper Meadows Cricket Club. Two award winning musical geniuses who are old friends and two of the best musicians of their generation come together for this all too rare demonstration of their combined talents.

Tim (guitar, melodeon), is brilliant in every which way. As a guitarist he has few peers. As a box player he´s a magician. As a character he´s off the scale (Colin Irwin, fRoots). Ross, one of Scotland´s finest traditional musicians and composers (pipes, whistles, cittern) is an acclaimed soloist and prolific collaborator with a long list of high profile awards and nominations going back as far as 2005 including Scots Trad Music Awards Instrumentalist of the Year (2015), Composer of the Year (2015) and Album of the Year (2016).
