Trance Rhythms of the Taranta meet Delta and Saharan Blues!
On Tuesday 17th May at The Jazz Café, Camden, Justin Adams & Mauro Durante join forces with Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino for a rare performance which has been marvelled worldwide, creating an unmissable experience.
A once in a generation performance which entwines traditional Italian performance with the genius of a legendary blues duo, transcending across the musical spectrum from blazing rock-outs to aching love songs.
CGS shows are a life explosion: full of energy, passion, rhythm and mystery, they transport an audience from past to present and back again. Thousands flock to their shows in Italy, where they make an audience shimmy with the pure energy of their frenzied trance dances and ritualistic performances.
The collaboration between Justin Adams & Mauro Durante stems from a concert led by Ludovico Einaudi, the Notte della Taranta in Puglia, where the two first played together, recognising kindred spirits in the trance rhythms of Taranta which transcend “melancolia” or the blues. Together they create a raw, stripped-back sound that moves and mesmerises.
