IMDL Digital Concert Series - The Parish Céilí Band
IMDL presents The Parish Céilí Band filmed on location at Grand Junction
The Parish Céilí Band was formed at the beginning of 2019 and named after the Parish Bar in Wembley where many of the original members, a collection of musicians from across London who met on the vibrant session scene, regularly played. They went on to win the All-Britain fleadh that year, defeating the reigning champions who had previously held the title for 13 years, and becoming the first London band to win since the Auld Triangle Céilí Band in 2003. A huge achievement for the band in their debut year! ‘The Parish’, as they are fondly known, have become very popular amongst the set dancing community, playing Céilís across London, including at IMDL’s annual Festival ‘Return to London Town’.
Band members are Rita and Ciaran Farrell (flute and drum), Órlaith and Brogan McAuliffe (flute and concertina), Jack Boyle (banjo), Colin Mullin (button accordion), Laura Shellum (fiddle), Ben and Teresa Connolly (piano and fiddle) and Elaine Conwell (fiddle)
This specially commissioned concert will be streamed on Friday 16th April and is presented with support from the Greater London Authority
