Jaminaround at the Earthouse
Jaminaround presents a serious of unique events at the Cranborne Earthouse
Jaminaround is a bi-annual music and storytelling event running since 2004 that takes place at Cranborne Earthouse, a unique reconstructed iron-age roundhouse in Dorset. Each Jaminaround event is a carefully curated, varied programme of world-class music and performance, feeling like one of those ´best-kept-secret´ kind of events. The star of the show is the building itself, a grass hill on the outside that, as you walk in, reveals a spectacular 300-seater indoor amphitheatre, a handcrafted wooden roof structure held up by 21 enormous tree-trunk pillars with the performance space sunken in the centre. The atmosphere inside leaves you instantly spell-bound and the intimacy of the setting makes for truly a memorable audience experience.
Artists in the past have included: Hejira, Eska, Melt Yourself Down, Piers Faccini (France), Ariwo (Cuba/Iran), The Turbans, Fofoulah (UK/Gambia), Kadialy Kouyate (Senegal), Sam Lee, Hugh Lupton, London Bulgarian Choir, Zena Edwards, Jan Blake, Finn Peters, Soothsayers, Anita Daulne (of Zap Mama), Family Atlantica, Trio Tekke (Cyprus), Faith Mussa (Malawi), Vula Viel, Linos Wengara Magaya (Zimbabwe), Electric Jalaba and many more.
The Earthouse is part of The Cranborne Ancient Technology Centre, an inspirational outdoor education centre where, over its 30-year existence, literally tens of thousands of school children from across the country have visited to learn with hands-on experiences of how people lived throughout history.
The first event of 2019 is Jaminaround Part 1, on the 25th May, featuring Matt Calvert, Mad Mad Mad, Clare Murphy, Eleni Era and Josh Geffin: Tickets €25
