Acclaimed American country singer Candi Carpenter lands in Brighton on Saturday 11th September to play a special one-off intimate show at The Folklore Rooms.

 

Described by Rolling Stone as “a devastatingly direct singer with a gospel foundation, a Janis Joplin obsession and an axe to grind", Carpenter is originally from Lansing, Michigan, and spent her early childhood years touring the Midwestern USA with her family´s gospel band. In 2019, Candi made her Grand Ole Opry Debut, and returned to the hallowed stage later that year to perform "Little Sparrow" on the BBC´s "Dolly Parton: 50 Years at The Grand Ole Opry."

 

Dolly Parton has been quoted as saying, “Candi Carpenter is one of the greatest singer/songwriters I’ve ever heard, bar none."
