Hailing from Bangalore in the Indian state of Karnataka, Jyotsna Srikanth has carved a name for herself as “Britain’s finest violinist of Indian classical music” (Time Out). Approaching every musical tradition with a forward-thinking outlook and elastic expressivity, Jyotsna revels in raga rotations as easily as jamming in free jazz and oftentimes marrying the two.

Jyotsna Srikanth’s national UK tour culminates at London’s Kings Place on Sunday, 4th December. The trio SHAKTHI includes Jyotsna on south Indian Carnatic violin, accompanied by music producer Shadrach Solomon on keys and piano and rhythms sensation, Karthik Mani on drums and percussion. SHAKTHI translates from Hindi as ‘strength’ or ‘power’ and is collection of music composed by Jyotsna Srikanth during lockdown. As Jyotsna says,

Artists suffered immensely with loss of work. They gathered courage and strength to survive during the pandemic and now have again started to perform and tour.  The songs of SHAKTHI have a blend of ragas produced in a contemporary way along with electronics and improvisations in Indian style, thus producing new sounds.”

SHAKTHI has been touring the UK nationally from November 18th culminating in a final concert at Kings Place in London on Sunday 4th December. It promises to be a most special and uplifting concert.

Organised by London International Arts Festival hosted by Dhruv Arts in partnership with Asian Arts Agency. Supported using public funding by Arts Council England. Publicist: Angie Lemon PR.
