The Salts at Wilton’s 13th April

Songs from the Sea featuring The Salts at Wilton´s Music Hall, London - Thursday April 13th

When you promenade to Wilton’s Music Hall in a secluded pedestrian alley in Whitechapel (perhaps once frequented by Jack the Ripper rather than Jack Tar) you are transported (not to the new world, but) back in time. A time of Gas lamps, Steam and Sail – it is the Sail aspect that “Songs from the Sea” focuses on. “When ships were made of wood, and men were made of steel!”

Brace yourselves, m´hearties, to join in with the songs y´all know and love including Haul Boys, Bound for South Australia, Blow the Man Down, Drunken Sailor and many more, and enjoy a barrel-load of stirring original tunes along the way.

Rocking five piece shantyfolk band The Salts return to Wilton’s on Thursday 13th April with a rousing night mixing classics with original sea-faring songs.

Tickets

The Salts are a co-operative of seasoned musicians, creating what is fast becoming one of the most exciting and energetic folk concepts of recent times.

Doing for shanties what the Pogues did for Irish Folk. Indeed 10,000 Miles and Bound for South Australia were at one time Pogued. The Salts version of “London Town” was quite unlike that of Bellowhead’s. A fantastic energy was show by The Salts and a great passion for their music.
